Internationalise labour market Zuid-Limburg
Welcome to Maastricht Region
Zuid-Limburg offers many career opportunities on which we want to raise awarness in the international community. Especially in the border area with Belgium and Germany. For this purpose, we are deploying the online platform Welcome to Maastricht Region.
The website welcometomaastrichtregion.com (with work portal) has now been successfully launched and is steadily working to build international awareness of our region. If people get to know Zuid-Limburg, they will more easily look for work here. This applies to frontier workers as well as people from countries further away and to those with theoretical or practical training.
Research has shown that our region will need 3,500 people (the Euroregion as many as 35,000) in business-related positions within the next five years. So from software engineers to bio engineers. This does not include healthcare functions. It is therefore important to get prospective talent already living in our region interested in working in South Limburg at a young age. In addition, we try to interest prospective talent already living in our region in working in Zuid-Limburg at a young age. We show pupils in primary and secondary education and vocational and academic education what career opportunities are available in our region. The aim is to retain talent for our euregional labour market and prevent them leaving for regions such as Eindhoven or the Randstad. All activities are therefore aimed at attracting, binding and captivating talent.
Short-term plans are:
- To further develop the website welcometomaastrichtregion.com into a euregional career portal with a work portal featuring English-language job vacancies for higher-educated knowledge workers. This portal will be linked to the website: welcometonl.nl.
- The website is filled with relevant information for employers, internationals, border workers and students. That is information on, for example, living, working and life in the Zuid-Limburg border region.
- Offering workshops involving various partners. In doing so, we focus on increased customisation and visibility in the region.
- Building a database with profiles of talents. We want to actively track talents in cooperation with knowledge institutions, industry and Brightlands.
- Together with Maastricht Marketing, the municipalities Sittard-Geleen and Stadsregio Parkstad Limburg, set up region branding aimed at Germans, Spaniards and Italians. Research shows that they are particularly interested in living and working in Zuid-Limburg.
- Setting up an international career portal that functions as airbnb. Here, a so-called job spider will constantly retrieve job offers from Google and place them in the right region.
When
Phased development.
