Enhancing unique landscape

Gateway to Heuvelland

The Gateway to Heuvelland project will connect two Natura 2000 areas, the Bemelberg-Schiepersberg and the Savelsbos. This is done by breaking the existing north-south barrier, the provincial road N278, for people and animals.

  • Improving water quality.
  • Improving access to the area for residential, commercial and recreational traffic.
  • Creating a sustainable transition area between city and country.
