The Circular Mile
The Circular Mile is a business location for circular activity in Geleen-Zuid. Through The Circular Mile project, the business plots around Professor van Krevelenstraat and the adjoining Kampstraat and Mauritspark business parks will transform into a high-quality location for businesses operating in a circular way. These companies focus on reducing the use of (fossil) raw materials and reusing what is now often considered residual waste.
The companies at The Circular Mile want to change the way small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) work. They are doing this by promoting the circular chain and thus the sustainable economy.
Providing high-quality business parks in a thematic location like Chemelot makes it easier for circular companies to establish themselves. By doing so, the Sittard-Geleen region strengthens its position as a forerunner in the development of a circular economy. Ultimately, The Circular Mile will become a visible circular work location. A place that serves as an inspiring link between Chemelot, Brightlands Chemelot Campus and the centre of Geleen.
When
The Circular Mile is a multi-year development. Most of the preparation, development and implementation will take place within the Regio Deal Zuid- Limburg project period. So between 2023 and 2028. Improvements to the workspaces will also take place within the project period. The total project duration is expected to be until 2030. This aligns with the planning of the action plan linked to the Chemelot Area Vision.
2023 - 2024: elaborate project definition based on market analysis and development perspective. This will be done by consultancy firm Buck consultants International.
2024: intended start of the implementation phase.
