Community approach Vallisveld

Not only is the neighbourhood undergoing robust renovation. Work is also being done to improve public order. We also work on health prevention and positive health for all. And on strengthening social cohesion within the neighbourhood. Connections between local residents, exercise, activation and well-being in a green and sustainable neighbourhood are keywords.

The transformation of Vallisveld goes beyond furnishing meeting places, green spaces, benches and coffee bars. It is about working together to create a better neighbourhood. A place where people can live pleasantly. And where activities are organised to bring people, both residents and professionals, closer together. Examples of activities include the Roda JC neighbourhood tour, the New Year's drink, the ANWB buddy, the neighbourhood day, the deployment of the energy team, celebrating Sinterklaas and the weekly consultation hour held for residents at the location by the municipality of Vaals, Krijtland Wonen and Envida. Residents have been actively sought out and working groups have been set up. They work on improving the neighbourhood. Nothing is being imposed from above. 

The neighbourhood has been given a community living room, which is already too small and will move in the summer of 2025 to a bigger location. Moreover, in spring and summer, three suitable houses will be converted into care homes and there will be a care shop. Envida is spearheading this.
