working visit Bocagelandschap

On Wednesday afternoon, 30 October, we organised a working visit to the Boundless Bocage Landschap. This is one of Regio Deal Zuid-Limburg's cross-border projects. This working visit is the first in a series of working visits we will organise in the coming years. Besides discovering the diverse projects of Regio Deal Zuid-Limburg, these are also great moments to get to know each other better and to seek or strengthen cooperation between the projects and municipalities involved. Visit food forest Oost-Maarland
This afternoon we also visited the food forest in Oost-Maarland. A food forest is a small forest planted to provide food. Everything in it is (partly) edible. Food forests form an ecosystem from which you can harvest throughout the year and consist of different types of trees and shrubs: nut trees, fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs, vegetables, ground covers and fungi. Because of its biodiversity, the food forest makes an important contribution to making nature sustainable in a landscape that is under pressure. But it is also a place where residents come together. From small children to old people have worked hard together to make this food forest come about. Moreover, the forest is now and will continue to be actively maintained by volunteers. This also makes it a place of cooperation and connections between local residents.
